About Jennifer Sigrest, LPC, NCC, BC-TMH

I'm Jennifer Sigrest, a Licensed Professional Counselor and the owner of Lotus Place Counseling in Ridgeland, Mississippi. I've been in private practice since 2012, specializing in working with adults navigating anxiety and traumatic stress. Before that, I spent many years working across a range of behavioral health settings, which gave me a broad foundation for understanding how people struggle and how they heal.

My approach is grounded in the belief that therapy works best when it's collaborative, honest, and tailored to you. I draw on cognitive-behavioral therapy, EMDR, exposure-based approaches, mindfulness-based CBT, and ego-state work, not as a rigid formula, but as a toolkit I use based on what's most useful for each person I work with. Underneath all of it is a mindfulness-based orientation that shapes how I show up in the room and how I help clients learn to relate differently to their own inner experience.

Mindfulness isn't just a clinical tool for me. It became my own anchor during a particularly challenging season of my life, helping me navigate overwhelming stress and stay connected to myself when everything felt uncertain. That personal experience is a big part of why I'm so committed to bringing these practices into my work with clients.

I'm a certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher through the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program (MMTCP), trained under Tara Brach, PhD and Jack Kornfield, PhD. That training informs both my counseling practice and my work through The Lotus Place, where I teach mindfulness meditation to people looking to cultivate more presence and groundedness in their everyday lives.

I believe therapy should feel like a real conversation in a space where you don't have to perform or edit yourself. All people are welcome here, regardless of background or identity.

When I'm not in session, you'll likely find me outside. I volunteer as a Mississippi Master Naturalist in both the Central and Coastal regions of the state, with a particular interest in water quality and the interconnectedness of natural systems. The natural world is where I do a lot of my own grounding, and it's a constant reminder of how much we can learn by simply paying attention to what's around us.
