LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy
While this page speaks specifically to the LGBTQ+ experience, my practice is a welcoming and affirming space for all people regardless of identity, background, or life experience.
You Just Want to Be Yourself Without Bracing for Impact
You know who you are. But living in a world that doesn't always make room for you means you're constantly scanning, constantly on guard, constantly doing the math on whether it's safe to be yourself in any given situation.
You grew up hearing hateful things said about people like you, often from the very people who were supposed to protect you: family members, teachers, community leaders. Those messages have a way of settling in deep, making you feel cautious and uncertain even now.
You've reached out for help before, hoping a therapist would be a safe space. Instead you found someone who imposed their own beliefs on you or suggested that who you are is the problem. That experience is its own kind of harm, and it makes sense that it's made you hesitant to try again.
You deserve better than that. And it exists.
A Space Where You Can Actually Be Yourself
Counseling with me is genuinely affirming, not just in policy but in practice. You won't have to educate me, defend yourself, or navigate around my personal beliefs. We can get straight to what you actually came here for.
We can explore the ways that living in a non-affirming environment is taking a toll on you, because that stress is real and it deserves to be named. We can work on recognizing and building on your inherent self-worth. And we can address whatever else is showing up in your life, because being LGBTQ+ is part of who you are, not the sum total of what we'll talk about.
My hope for you is that you leave therapy more at ease in your own skin and more confident in your ability to navigate the world as exactly who you are.
